Testimonials

Dear Corrine and Tim,

Thank you so much for the Viking Day on Wednesday 4th May.

The day itself was a complete success and the Head Teacher commented on how engaged the children were when she showed visitors around the school throughout the day. I thought you might be interested to hear about the slightly longer-term effects of the day. Today, the children were writing a story about a Norse character. One child asked me to make a word mat to help her describe what it felt like to fight as a Viking. She said she couldn't imagine it. I reminded her that she had wielded a sword and had practised stabbing high and stabbing low, she had worn chain mail, a helmet and a beard. Suddenly, she realised she knew what it felt like, sounded like, and looked like and she got on with her writing.

Later on, we were reading a story that had a medicine man in it and the class were wondering how easy it would be to make medicine - then almost at the same time they all stared at each other and said, "We made medicine!" It was a very funny moment. It has become an anchor to knowledge that I can refer them to and their writing is all the better for it.  Once again thank you for all your time, imagination and creativity, it was infectious.

With kindest regards,  Liz Missen
